Why terrestrial AIS

A useful signal can become shared infrastructure.

Terrestrial receivers hear local traffic that satellites and distant stations don't always see reliably. When many operators contribute what their antennas already receive, the result is maritime data infrastructure — built from the coast up.

Your station sends its terrestrial AIS stream to the network. Processing and the monthly point calculation happen there.

Pelyr OPEN-AIS deliberately prescribes no hardware brand. Participation is non-exclusive: you can keep sending the same station feed to other AIS platforms. The right setup depends on your location, your antenna options, and the equipment you already own.

Pool calculation

One pool, split into two proportional shares.

A defined part of the network's monthly revenue goes into the contributor pool. 95% is distributed by qualified coverage-point share; 5% is distributed by active global Early-Point share.

In the example, the station holds 0.7 percent of all qualified coverage points. Its coverage reward starts at 0.7 percent of the 95% coverage pool — equal to 0.665 percent of the total contributor pool — plus any separate Early reward, subject to applicable caps and the active policy.
